  Agenda

  NAPO organizers are the first line of defense. Photography organizers get the call because the STUFF is everywhere. Everyone has too much STUFF.

  Photography management is often a low priority for clients until the collection begins to outgrow a space. And this happens much more slowly – it creeps up over time. Maybe it’s prints or albums cluttering up a guest room closet. Maybe it’s digital photos clogging up a hard drive. Or photo organizing fills an urgent need when a parent is aging or a loved one passes away.

  In this session, Jody will talk about these and the many other reasons why someone would hire a photo organizer. She will describe the services she offers and outline how NAPO organizers can partner with photo organizers. After this presentation, you’ll be better equipped to assist clients with what is often a complicated niche in the organizing world.

  Speaker

  Jody Al-Saigh founded Picture Perfect Organizing in 2008. She is an Emeritus Member of The Photo Managers Association and was a Certified Pro Photo Manager. She was also a Golden Circle member of NAPO. Prior to founding her business, Jody was a graphic design and print production professional for 10 years. Additionally, she has served as a volunteer leader with Pi Beta Phi since 2002. In addition to her organizing business, Jody works full-time in the Human Resources field at Insperity. She lives in Arlington with her husband and 15-year-old son while her daughter, 19, attends the College of William and Mary.

  Agenda

  An overlooked benefit that we can provide to clients is to use the organizing/productivity project to inspire and anchor greater self-awareness. In this session, you'll learn communication tools which do this: listening for and responding to openings; asking permission to ask bigger questions; requesting data collection self-observation, co-creating experiments and partnering to learn from each step and stage of the project.

  Objectives: Participants will learn how to:

  • Invite clients into a curious self-awareness agreement as part of an organizing/productivity project
  • Listen for and encourage client articulation without making assumptions or rushing in with your own insights
  • Follow-up on sessions, client ‘fieldwork’ and earlier conversations to support and anchor deeper learning and self-awareness
  • Encourage clients to become the Curious Expert on their own preferences, perspectives, strengths, choices and behaviors

  Speaker Info

  Denslow Brown opened her organizing business in 1974 and has been active in both NAPO and ICD (NSGCD) since their inception, volunteering in a number of leadership and training capacities over the years. She is a CPO, CPO-CD, and ICD Master Trainer. She is the recipient of NAPO’s President and Founders Awards. In the 1990s, she began researching adult attention deficit disorder (ADD) and training as a coach. She has provided presentations related to both ADD and coaching for over 20 years at ICD, NAPO and CHADD conferences. She was credentialed as a Master Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation in 2008. That same year, she founded the Coach Approach for Organizers with the specific goal of bringing coaching skills into the organizing and productivity fields. Her coach training program is accredited by ICF and supports five credentials for organizer coaching, productivity/leadership coaching, ADHD coaching and life coaching. She is most proud of Coaching Essentials, Coach Approach’s 8-week stand-alone intro telecourse on basic coaching competence.

  Join your NAPO-WDC colleagues for an Off-Site Workday on Friday, June 14th, 8 am to 4 pm.

  

  Leave home to hyper-focus on a project or two. Set aside a day to tackle your business projects and get accountability and support from fellow chapter members. We work independently and then gather for intermittent discussions to share ideas and offer support and suggestions.

  Where:

  In-person: Janet's home in Centreville, VA. Let her know you would like to participate and she'll send her address to you.

  There is a kitchen and dining room table and two comfy sofas and some chairs to sit in all day.

  You can use the kitchen or there are some places close by to pick up lunch and you can come and go anytime. If people are interested, we can have a happy hour at the end of the day.

  Virtual: Work via Zoom, with the ability to join in on the discussions.

  When:

  The next Off-Site Workday is Friday, June 14th. We meet from 8 am to 4 pm. You can come and go as you please during this time.

  Format:

  We will work for 1 hour and 45 minutes and then stop for accountability and feedback for 15 minutes. We'll do this 4 times throughout the day.
