Mark Harrington, Junkluggers of Gainesville

The Junkluggers partnered with Prince William Food Rescue to support the House of Mercy. Prince William Food Rescue aims to address the disconnection in distribution, in supply and access, by rescuing food about to go to waste and directly distributing to organizations that serve communities in need. Our goal is to move healthy food from sanitation to sustainment. The Junkluggers delivered several "rescues" directly to the House of Mercy's food pantry.

Cristina Sindhu, Solutions For Stuff LLC

Back in 2017, one of my clients was looking for a place to donate clothing that was not a thrift store. After doing some research, I found Women Giving Back. Located in Sterling, Virginia, Women Giving Back helps women and children in crisis by distributing clothing at no cost. After dropping off my client’s donations, I returned for one of their volunteer shifts and quickly became a regular. Besides sorting donations and helping shoppers, I also lead volunteer groups and have helped to organize and redesign key parts of the warehouse and store. I was honored to be named Individual Volunteer of the Year in 2019 and continue to volunteer my time and skills on a weekly basis.

Heather Cocozza, Cocozza Organizing + Design LLC

I have been a pretty serious volunteer my whole life. One area I’ve focused on that may surprise NAPO members is Arlington sports. I got interested in this when my son (now in college) was an avid gymnast and because I have been an Arlington resident and business owner for many years. I am currently a member of the Better Sports Club of Arlington, Inc., as well as a member of the Arlington Sports Hall of Fame, where I was the first female on the Board of Directors, and where I oversaw a $4,000 budget as Treasurer in 2016. I’ve also volunteered with the Arlington Sports Commission as both Commissioner (recommending a fee structure for Arlington County sports programs), and Chair (overseeing a $300,000 budget and making recommendations to the County Board on adequacy and efficiency of programs and facilities for sports). Giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding things I do!
